Races and walks that are taking place in the area this weekend:

Those who run in Central Park should be aware that the Five Boro Bike Tour is happening on Sunday, May 3rd. The course takes bikers up Central Park’s East Drive from approximately 8:15am until 10:30am.

In the News: NYC Half Marathon Demand

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 has an article about the 2009 NYC Half Marathon, which will open for registration this Friday, May 1st at noon on a first come, first served basis.  The article discusses the possible high demand for the race:

Demand is expected to be heavy; 19,500 people applied last year and only 10,500 were accepted.

Pricing for the 2009 NYC Half Marathon?

With registration for the NYC Half Marathon approaching, NYRR has not yet officially released the pricing for the race.  However, an anonymous reader has provided the following information about the NYC Half fees.  This information should be treated as an unverified rumor:

NYRR Members: $65
Non-Members Domestic: $70
Non-Members International: $70

2009 More Marathon Canceled Last Minute Due to Heat

Yesterday’s More Marathon was canceled due to unseasonably warm conditions in New York City. The Half Marathon took place albeit as an unscored, noncompetitive event.

Mother’s Day 4 Mile Nears Registration Capacity

NYRR’s R Baby Mother’s Day 4M is nearing registration capacity, according to the New York Road Runner’s website. The race takes place in Central Park on Sunday, May 10th.

Brooklyn Half Course Posted

NYRR has updated the Brooklyn Half Marathon race page with a course description.  As previously reported, the race starts in Prospect Park and ends in Coney Island, and is approximately the reverse of the previous course.
